Resistivity imaging and Ground Penetrating Radar survey at Gualeguaychú landfill, Entre Ríos Province, Argentina: Evidences of a contamination plume

چکیده

Some multi-electrode resistivity studies were performed within and outside the landfill as part of the environmental project. The apparent-resistivity data were collected using a dipole-dipole survey with 21 electrodes (spaced a=5m with n= 1, ...,18), to give a total line-length of 100 meters. Data inversion was carried out using the DCINV2D program. All the subsequent inversions had a RMS less than 2. The depth of investigation (DOI) was estimated around 25 meters.

Determination of unstable tectonic zones in C–North deposit, Sangan, NE Iran using GPR method: importance of structural geology

Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) is an effective and practical geophysical imaging tool, with a wide set of applications in geological mapping of subsurface information. This research study aims at determination of the geophysical parameter differences in the subsurface geological structures and construction of a 3D fracture model. GPR and resistivity methods were applied to detect the unstable t...

Using slow-release permanganate candles to remove TCE from a low permeable aquifer at a former landfill.

Past disposal of industrial solvents into unregulated landfills is a significant source of groundwater contamination. In 2009, we began investigating a former unregulated landfill with known trichloroethene (TCE) contamination. Our objective was to pinpoint the location of the plume and treat the TCE using in situ chemical oxidation (ISCO). We accomplished this by using electrical resistivity i...

Interactive comment on “Imaging tropical peatlands in Indonesia using ground penetrating radar (GPR) and electrical resistivity imaging (ERI): implications for carbon stock estimates and peat soil characterization” by X. Comas

The paper presents interesting data on a critical issue: estimation of carbon stocks of tropical peatlands. However, the paper, as currently written, is not well structured for Biogeoscience discussion. It is too technical and focused on the geophysical methods. The paper should be restructured and extended for a publication in Biogeoscience discussions or sent to another journal more focused o...
